Obama clearly explained that he wanted to end abuses of the H1-B visas that is used by highly qualified specialists to work in US. He added that he would make "immigrant workers less dependent on their employers for their right to stay in the country, and would hold accountable employers who abuse the system and their workers".
I read that too, the problem is that American people have now become aware of the H1B visa abuse, I believe all these Desi vendor/body shops have really abused the system to the root. If democrats take over, which I interpret they most likely will, they will put out much strict regulations on these small companies. I know some people in my university are planning to join a community that will report the Desi companies abusing the system to department of commerce, because their are some people who failed to get H1b visa in last two years due to the lottery system.

I'm having less and less faith in the claims made by members that USCIS is inefficient and clueless. ok, they have been and continue to be in many areas:):). However, they have a game plan this time. In retrospect, we know they had a game plan in June 07 also.
There are several unknown variables (repeatedly and extensively discussed here)which make accurate prediction impossible for us. However, USCIS has the numbers of RIPE CASES. And they moved the dates based on the availability of remaining GC numbers for this fiscal AND the ripe cases.
They could have moved it to just Dec 2005, instead they moved it all the way to June 2006.
Best\ optimistic scenario- Most EB-2-I cases upto June 2006 will be adjudicated before Oct 1st.
Conservative scenario-Upto at least Dec 2005 PD all cases will be adjudicated , and a few CP cases into early 2006 will be adjudicated. With spillovers happening in each quarter, the PD should continue to move.

While on the way back from White Mountains in NH, our car was stopped on I-93 south by the US border patrol. They were stopping every single vehicle to question. They had over a dozen Govt vehicles with 40-50 people in uniform. My buddy was driving.
Officer : Sir what is your status in the US ?
Buddy: I am on L1 visa
I: H1B
buddy's wife: L2
my wife: H4
officer: is anyone US citizen ?
I: my son is (he was sitting in the car seat)

I have H1B from my current company A. My fiance is having no visa so he is in India. He is in IT hardware field.....
Also I am currently searching for jobs in IT hardware field in USA but as he is not in USA so no luck till now.....
1) I am thinking of bringing him in USA after marriage on H4...the reason is it seems to be very difficult to find job in USA from India with H1 sponsorship ...As I have H1 , my fiance can have H4....On H4 he can not work in USA or apply for jobs in USA....plz confirm...

We need to run a media drive from tomorrow with full speed so that we can communicate this absurd action by DOS and USCIS.
How can they give 18K greencards in one day? and 60K greencards in one month. Where was the lack of manpower and heavy workload excuses?
Why did they make the dates current in the first place when they knew they cannot handle so many applications? There are so many questions that need answers.
This system is broken and needs to be fixed. Let us communicate to all our friends who are affected with this tragedy today so that we can all unite and make efforts to have our voices heard.

I came with 4 other people and NONE are IV members and nor did we approach any - infact the white shirt dude was surprised to know we were not part of IV and offended. As I said passive movements dont make a difference.

Did anybody notice that FB I-485 processed numbers are same for every month. How USCIS can allocate same numbers to FB every month and not to EB. Wouldn't it be easy if they allocate annual quota of EB visas per month and any leftover from every month can be allocated to retrogressed countries in the same month.

Most of the Eb3's are either working for big companies who won't do GC in EB2 or not qualified for eb2 ( so called 3 year degree ) and enjoying all these years when they know clearly eb3 is not going any where ...what in the world prevent them to move up the ladder and porting their PDs ...They dont want to take any risk and just show their frustation in internet forums

The Path of joy is not that.. Path of Joy is meditation, not this mundane eb1 eb2, this is the problem when the brain is completely with the modern day theories. when you open you bottle in the evening and when you whistle and flirt with girls, there you go you are at the path of pleasure. understand the things first in correct sense. dont speak senseless.

I don't know if anyone is in or has been in a similar situation. But would appreciate sound advise on the next steps...
My wife and mine PD have been current since September 1st (PD: Apr 2006). We'd received a RFE in 2009 and we'd responded to it in June 2009. The status on USCIS states "Response Review" for both of us and that we should hear back within 60 days of receiving the RFE response which dates back to June 2009.
I've opened a SR, contacted a congressman and still no update or specific feedback since 1st week of September.
What should I do in such a situation?? Can I take an Infopass appointment even though 45 days haven't elapsed since opening SR?
What other avenues can I pursue to obtain concrete feedback on our applications?

The real face of America, as we used to see it in India is in full light. Hypocrisy under the name of protecting country's job. I agree with Ash's post that in its substance that unlike holocaust, we are not being killed, however; we are being thrown out just like ethnic Indians were thrown out of Uganda by its dictator. This is not much different.
I understand some people making an argument that this is demand vs supply. But what logic does it make to go aggressively after those who have spent 5-10 years in this country and followed almost everything legally? and at the same time those who are voters , provide them benefits with our tax paid money.
Problem is not them , problem is us. We left our country sick of reservation etc., So our community was sidelined by the politicians in India and we came here foregoing our "voting rights". Hence politicians here dont care about us. We gave up where we belonged to looking for "shortcut" to success only to be deceived by opportunist Americans dangling carrots of green cards and better life.
They are career politicians and they care only about elections and votes. So this is nothing but vote bank politics.

Most of you either have a firewall or a proxy server to go out to the internet at your work locations, which allows for only TCP port 80. So if you are unsuccessful in getting the real player to work, try this:
when real player opens do the following:
click on tools->preferences->network transport->
then check the "manually configure connection settings"
click on RTSP settings and uncheck everything except "Attempt to use HTTP for all contents" click OK.
Next
click on PNA settings and uncheck everything except "Attempt to use HTTP for all contents" click OK.
Enjoy!!
